The Braves selected Winkler back in the 2014 Rule 5 Draft. Injuries have limited him to just 21 appearances and 18.1 innings pitched since. However, Winkler made his way back to the major league level late in 2017 and performed well appearing in 16 games while allowing four earned runs in 14.1 innings. He will go to spring training looking to nail down a job in Atlanta’s bullpen.
The Braves have two remaining arbitration eligible players remaining in starter Mike Foltynewicz and reliever Arodys Vizcaino. The team reached a deal and avoided arbitration with reliever Sam Freeman on Thursday.
