Deadline and August Rosterbation

- OFFSEASON:

Manager – Snitker is out after this year, and a non-Bobby Cox disciple comes in. There’s a lot of bench coaches in MLB with managing experience, or just Ron Washington or Bo Porter.
Pitching Coach – see above, kinda

Trade for Profar (project who could become something, under control though 2019, possible deadline flip) with Wisler/Blair and a lotto guy like Ricardo Sanchez.
Trade Matt Adams for a 45 FV prospect.
Trade R.A. Dickey for a 45 FV prospect.
Trade or release Markakis.

Grab a third baseman without giving up too much.
Sign Kurt Suzuki to another 1-year deal
Sign Alex Cobb or Lance Lynn to a 3- or 4-year deal
Sign a wild card for the bench like Rajai Davis or Stephen Drew that we could perhaps flip at the deadline (Espinosa, Escobar, Drew, Davis, Gentry, Revere, Jaso)

- Lineup vs RHP
Inciarte CF // Acuna RF // Freeman 1B // Kemp LF // New 3B // Flowers C // Swanson SS // Albies 2B

- Lineup vs LHP
Inciarte CF // Acuna RF // Freeman 1B // Kemp LF // New 3B // Flowers C // Swanson SS // Albies 2B

- Bench
C – Suzuki / Scivicque
UT – Jurickson Profar (Danny Santana and Jace Peterson as fallback options)
OF – Dustin Peterson
INF – Johan Camargo
Wildcard: Carlos Franco, something crazy like maybe Rajai Davis, or finally get Stephen Drew in a Braves uni

- Rotation
1. Julio Teheran
2. Alex Cobb or Lance Lynn to a 3- or 4-year deal
3. Mike Foltynewicz
4/5. Sean Newcomb, Lucas Sims, Mike Soroka

- Bullpen
CL - Vizcaino

SU - Ramirez

SU - Morris

L - Minter

LOOGY - Brothers or Clouse

MR - Hursh, Dirks, or Wisler

LR - Jackson, Blair, Medlen, or Sims

  • There’s plenty of depth and padding for all of the spots. Between Peterson, Profar, Rodriguez, and (perhaps) my Wild Card sign on the bench, there’s plenty of guys to move around the outfield if one goes cold or injured at once.
  • If the team is not in a buying position in 2018 by the deadline, there’s still some Flip Chips in here: Profar, Wild Card sign, Flowers, Suzuki, Vizcaino, Brothers, and Ramirez.
  • Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna are front and center on the MLB team, but with plenty of depth again if they should ever fall into an extended struggle.
  • Dansby Swanson is an everyday starter.
  • There’s a clear path for guys to move up from the minors in the bullpen – mainly Corbin Clouse and Devon Watts, even Touki Toussaint if he goes that way.
  • While making a buy move for the future with Cobb or Lynn, we still dedicate 2 spots for up-and-comers, like Soroka and Newcomb. Flexibility for Lucas Sims to go from rotation to bullpen if need be.
