Braves out slug Mets 9-7 at SunTrust Park
Freddie Freeman homered while Ender Inciarte had three hits as Atlanta’s offense bailed out R.A. Dickey in a 9-7 win to snap a brief two-game skid. R.A. Dickey earned his third victory of the season allowing four hits (two homers) and three runs over six innings of work.
Tyler Flowers is quietly off to a great start
While the catcher position was an area of concern coming into the season for the Atlanta Braves, Tyler Flowers has helped to calm those concerns somewhat with his good start to the season.
But through the season’s first month, Flowers has shown the capability of handling the everyday load. In 18 games, Flowers had six multi-hit games. Five of the team’s 10 wins resulted on days when Flowers has racked up multiple base hits. He even missed a few days with a hamstring strain.
Inciarte a key factor behind Braves’ offense
MLB.com’s Mark Bowman takes a look at how big of a factor Ender Inciarte is to the Braves’ offense. In short, when he is getting on base, Atlanta doesn’t have any trouble scoring runs.
As the Braves have averaged 9.2 runs while winning five of their last seven games, Inciarte has hit .375 with a .429 on-base percentage. During the six-game losing streak that preceded this stretch, Atlanta's leadoff hitter reached via a hit or walk in just two of 25 plate appearances. The team totaled just 15 runs within that span.

Woody Studemund reviews SunTrust Park for The Hardball Times and says that it is unique in that it “isn’t just a baseball stadium, but instead is a small city.”

Manny Machado had strong words for the Red Sox
The feud between Manny Machado and the Boston Red Sox over a high slide that injured second baseman Dustin Pedroia added another chapter Tuesday night when Boston starter Chris Sale fired a fastball behind Machado in the first inning. Machado had some not so nice things to say about the incident following the game.
“If you want to (bleep) hit me, hit me. Go ahead. (Bleep) hit me. Don’t let this (bleep) keep lingering (bleep) around, and keep trying to (bleep) hit people. It’s (bleep) bullshit. It’s (bleep) bullshit. MLB should do something about it. (Bleep) pitchers out there with (bleep) balls in their hand, throwing 100 MPH, trying to hit people. I have a (bleep) bat, too. I could go out there and crush somebody if I wanted to. But do you know what? I’ll get suspended for the year, and the pitcher will only get suspended for two games. That’s not cool.”
