Gwinnett Braves 4, Toledo Mudhens 8
Box score
- Matt Wisler, SP: 5.2 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
- Ozzie Albies, 2B: 1-3, R, BB
- Mel Rojas Jr, LF: 2-3, HR, double, 2 RBI
Matt Wisler’s recent struggles followed him to Triple A as he was absolutely shelled for 7 runs on 9 hits and looks lost out there on the mound right now. He only put up one clean inning in the fifth then unraveled in the 6th with 2 outs by giving up 2 singles a wild pitch and a 2 run double before being pulled in favor of Akeel Morris who gave up two hits and two walks in 0.1 innings of work and failed to record an out in the 7th inning. Rhiner Cruz, Jason Hursh, and David Peterson all pitched scoreless innings of relief after that, but the damage had been done.
Mel Rojas Jr. homered in the 2nd inning and had an RBI double in the 6th inning. Lane Adams solo shot in the 4th and Johan Camargo’s RBI double in the 8th were the only other extra base hits. Rojas Jr. is playing really well right now with a OPS over 1.000 in the last 10 games. Ozzie Albies reached base twice for Gwinnett with a hit and a walk as he tries to get on track in AAA.

Mississippi Braves 9, Mobile BayBears 1
- Kolby Allard, SP: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
- Travis Demeritte, 2B: 2-3, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI
- Ronald Acuna, RF: 3-4, HR, 3 RBI, SB
Ronald Acuna got the call up to Mississippi today and did not disappoint hitting a monster 2-run home run on the very first pitch he saw in Double A. The Braves led off the first with 5 straight hits including the Acuna shot. Valenzuela led off with a single after a lengthy at bat and scored on the homer. Demeritte, Franco and Meneses all singled before a Keith Curcio sac fly made it 4-1. The carousel started spinning again in the 4th inning with 2 outs, Kade Scivicque doubled and advanced to third on a Luis Valenzuela single. Enter Ronald Acuna who collected his third base hit and RBI to make it 5-1. Valenzuela scored on a balk while the pitcher was worrying about Acuna on first before Travis Demeritte unloaded to left center field for his 3rd home run of the season to make it 8-1.
Kolby Allard gave up a double to the second batter he faced who came around to score before settling in and cruising the rest of the game. He didn’t appear to have his best stuff and was visibly frustrated with a few of his curveballs that just missed but soldiered on for six solid innings. Phillip Pfiefer came on and struck out 3 over 2 scoreless before Evan Phillips closed it out with a perfect 9th inning.
Next game: Wednesday hosting Mobile @ 11:35 AM. Probable starter - Matt Withrow (1.74 ERA)
Florida Fire Frogs 1, Daytona Tortugas 2
Box score
- Luiz Gohara, SP: 4.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 9 K
- Alex Jackson, DH: 1-3, 2B, RBI
- Anfernee Seymour, CF: 1-4, SB, R
Luiz Gohara got the start and gave up 2 straight singles before striking out the next 2 batters. Narciso Crook hit a 2 run double to give the Tortugas a 2-0 lead and that was a wrap as Gohara struck out the next batter to escape the first. He went on to strike out 2 batters in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings before being pulled with one out in the 5th after 94 pitches, 61 of them for strikes. He had his nasty stuff again tonight, 7 of his 9 strikeouts were swinging, and made a pretty good bid to take the spot left vacant in Mississippi by Patrick Weigel.
Alex Jackson stayed hot with a double, he’s hitting .296 with a .935 OPS. Anfernee Seymour made his Fire Frogs debut by going 1 for 4 with a base hit, stolen base and a run scored. Ray-Patrick Didder and Alejandro Salazar both singled and were the only other players to record a hit as Florida struggled to get anything going against Vladimir Gutierrez
