Terry Pendleton, Eddie Perez out as Braves coaches, Walt Weiss likely in

The AJC’s David O’Brien reports that Terry Pendleton and Eddie Perez won’t return to the Braves coaching staff in 2018 and that Walt Weiss will likely be the new bench coach in place of Pendleton. No new information there but O’Brien also reports that pitching coach Chuck Hernandez is likely to be retained.

Justin Verlander turned in another spectacular performance on the mound and helped the Houston Astros force a Game 7 with a 7-1 win over the Yankees. Verlander went seven innings allowing only five hits while striking out eight.

Dusty Baker Will Not Return As Nationals’ Manager In 2018

The Nationals announced on Friday that manager Dusty Baker would not return for the 2018 season. Under Baker the Nats had won the NL East in back-to-back seasons but had failed to have any postseason success. Washington GM Mike Rizzo told reporters on Friday that the team never had any contract negotiations with Baker and that winning regular season games and division titles was not enough.

Kevin Long, Manny Acta Reportedly The Favorites In Mets’ Managerial Search

The New York Mets are nearing the end of managerial search and the New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports that current hitting coach Kevin Long is the favorite although Mariners third base coach Manny Acta is another possibility.
