With John Coppolella resigning today the Braves will immediately begin the search for a new General Manager. John Hart is assuming the interim role again until the Braves can find someone to take the position.
There are already rumors circling Kansas City GM Dayton Moore as one of the replacement candidates for Coppolella but when asked about the opportunity earlier today Dayton had this to say:
Dayton Moore on any Atlanta rumors: "I've heard that stuff before and I'm not even going to comment on it. My focus is and always has been on the Kansas City Royals."— Jeffrey Flanagan (@FlannyMLB) October 2, 2017
While Moore obviously is not going to come right out and say he would accept the position if offered it seems the Braves front office thinks highly of him. Another possible name that has come to the forefront of the discussion is Nationals assistant GM Dan Jennings.
The Braves job is going to be highly coveted as it is a perfect situation for a new GM to walk in to. Atlanta has a top farm system, a new ballpark and a lot of money opening up over the next couple of seasons which is any GM’s dream. Expect more names to arise as the Braves look to make this a smooth but quick transition.
