There are a lot of reasons to be excited about the opening of SunTrust Park. The first game will be on April 14th against the Padres and will feature not only a shiny new stadium and a retooled roster, but it will also have a mixed-use development surrounding the park called The Battery.
The Battery, which will feature a concert hall, restaurants, retail stores, commercial buildings, a hotel, and other attractions, is being created to both allow for fans to have lots of options on game days before and after games to eat and enjoy amenities (a feature which helps resolves an old and persistent complaint of fans about Turner Field) as well as to allow the facility to have use and utility in the off-season as well.
The concert hall will not be only place that will hold concerts, though. In fact, the first big non-baseball event will take place right on the field at SunTrust.
#Braves have acquired singer Billy Joel for cash considerations. He will perform on 4/28/17. The first concert at @SunTrustPark.

First of all, this is an 80-grade tweet from Grant....top marks sir.
This is not a post-game concert (the Braves are visiting the Brewers that weekend) so don’t go searching for tickets to the game on StubHub quite yet. Tickets to the concert will go on sale January 13th, but for those of you who are Braves A-Listers, tickets will be available on January 11th.
We can expect in the coming months that more and more events will be announced for SunTrust and the surrounding area, both in relation to the Braves’ first season there as well as completely unrelated to baseball. We will keep you posted on developments regarding SunTrust Park in 2017 as details are made available.
