It appears that the negotiations have gone well, because the Tampa Bay Business Journal is reporting that the deal is done and the Braves are officially on the way to Sarasota.
In the article from last week, Eric noted that the Braves were hoping to have a new spring training home built in time for the 2018 season, but considering the circumstances, I’m sure they won’t be complaining about getting into their new home in time for the 2019 season.
As this article from The Sporting News notes, the Braves will now be the second MLB team to call Sarasota County their spring training home, as the Baltimore Orioles have been there since 2010. More importantly, this should cut down on the travel issues for the Braves during spring training, which should only enhance the team’s experience when it comes to preparing for the long and arduous regular season.
Either way, it’s good to see that the Braves appear to have finally figured out their spring training situation for the future, and it’ll be exciting to see how the new project in Sarasota County develops over the next year or so.
