The Braves troubles at the catching position are fairly well documented. Tyler Flowers was reasonably able at the plate last season but struggled to catch opposing base stealers (to put it mildly). AJ Pierzynski was....not good and Anthony Recker was good in limited action, but is not an everyday guy and is certainly not a long term solution.
The problem is compounded by the fact that if the Braves farm system is weak in an area, it is at catcher. Joseph Odom could probably play a bit at the major league level but has a limited ceiling and the rest of the catchers in the system are either a long ways away or have their flaws.
The Braves had been connected with some of the free agent catchers on the market included Matt Wieters, Jason Castro, and Wellington Castillo, but it appears they have settled on a catching acquisition.
Source: #Braves finalizing deal with free-agent catcher Kurt Suzuki, as @ChrisCotillo said. Would put Anthony Recker in play for trades.

This makes the catching dynamic interesting, but it is somewhat unclear as to who would get the lion’s share of playing time. Suzuki put up a .258/.301/.403 slash line in 106 games for the Twins last year but is clearly on the downside of his career. Flowers is no spring chicken either though and neither of the players were particularly great at catching base runners last year.
One other note: the market for Matt Wieters continues to shrink more and more. One wonders if Boras has much leverage left at this point.
