The Atlanta Braves added talented five players on Day 1 of the 2015 MLB Draft, and on Day 2, the organization will add a handful of additional prospects in an attempt to improve the farm system. With their first selection on Tuesday afternoon, the Braves chose high school right-hander Anthony Guardado with the 89th overall pick.
The selection of Guardado is in line with Atlanta's recent shift toward two-sport prospects, but in the same breath, the 17-year-old from California is certainly an off-the-radar selection. Our friends at Minor League Ball ranked Guardado outside of the top 400 (yes, 400) prospects in this draft, while he was out of MLB.com's Top 200 as well.

Anthony Guardado has previously signed to play collegiate baseball at Long Beach State. He has also been referenced as a late bloomer of sorts in some spaces, but in any case, the Atlanta Braves continue to invest heavily in very young pitching.
