Gwinnett Braves - Off Day

Gwinnett will return to action today against Charlotte.

Mississippi Braves 5, Huntsville Stars 7

Mississippi dug themselves a hole in the first inning they couldn't escape, losing the contest 7-5. Jason Hursh was troubled throughout his outing as he gave up seven earned over 3.1 innings, only throwing 67 pitches before getting pulled. JR Graham came on in the ninth to throw a perfect inning adding a strikeout. The middle of the order brought their bats as both Cedric Hunter and Seth Loman went deep, their 14th and 12, respectively. Mycal Jones came in off the bench and tripled, his second of the season. The loss snapped the M-Braves 8-game winning streak.

Lynchburg won for the second night in a row by a score of 6-2, taking the third game of a four game set. Kevin Ahrens and Jose Martinez each went deep, driving in five of the six 'burg runs on the night. Blake Brown and Emerson Landoni also recorded multi-hit games. Blair Walters made the start and threw a beauty, allowing only two hits over six shutout innings. Unfortunately, Mauricio Cabrera, one of the Braves top prospects, allowed two earned runs on three walks without recording an out. It raised his ERA to 5.59 on the season.

Jacob Schrader went deep for the second game in a row, but five runs weren't enough for Rome Wednesday. The pitching allowed seven runs, four coming off Matt Kimbrel in his one inning of work. Starter Daniel Cordero had a quality start, allowing six hits over six innings. Conner Lien was hit not once, but twice, also reaching on a single. Connor Oliver legged out his 6th triple from the leadoff spot.

Another ugly one as both teams combined to commit seven errors. Danville allowed four runs, but only one of the earned variety, but it didn't matter as they pushed across eight runs. Fernelys Sanchez and himself a game, popping his second home run of the season while drawing three walks. Jose Morel had himself a three hit game, finding the hole for three singles while scoring two of the eight D-Braves runs.


Danville Stats

GCL Tigers 7, GCL Braves 6 (F/13)

Neither team wanted the season to end, as it took 13 innings before the Tigers took the win. The Braves tried to rally late, but couldn't overcome two unearned runs put up in the top of the 13th. Jordan Sechler took the unfortunate loss despite only allowing three hits over 4+ innings. Garrett Fulenchek tossed a gem in his final start before instructs, allowing only two hits over six innings. Alejandro Flores led the offense, ripping two doubles and a single.
