Welcome to the Dump.

Dodgers give Clayton Kershaw record extension - CBS

Seven years, $215 million: that's $30.7 million annually, with an opt out option after five years. That's the highest average annual salary EVER, and the contract is the largest ever for a pitcher. It's a smart move, according to one LA Times writer.

Before Monday, the Cubs were one of a handful of teams without an official mascot. Now that they do, many of the reactions are less than favorable.

Dallas Braden forced to retire at 30 - BLS

The guy who told A-rod to "get off his mound" and threw a perfect game on Mother's Day 2010 has required numerous surgeries on his left shoulder that he says has become "shredded".

Pablo Sandoval drops 42 pounds - San Jose Mercury

Considering he's a free agent after this year, this comes as no surprise. Speaking of surprises...

A-rod sues MLB - ESPN

Bet you didn't see THAT coming!

I normally avoid including any news regarding the soap opera surrounding A-rod. I'd suggest he just take the punishment he deserves like a man to preserve a smidgen of dignity, but I remembered he has none to spare.

Former MLB player arrested - CBS

Wladimir Balentien, who played 170 games over three years with the Mariners and Reds, has become a star in Japan, breaking the NPB single-season home run record. He was arrested in Florida on domestic violence charges.

The arbitration deadline was this week, and Price was arguably the most notable name among those eligible. He'll make $14 million in 2014.

Coach sues Little Leaguer for $500,000 - Yahoo

Not MLB-related, but linked because of its gross absurdity.
