Let's Go Braves!!
Same goal as yesterday. Put a W on the board before tonight’s game.
Some offense would be great!
I would love a blow-out, runs on the board early!
I'd rather see us manufacture runs
Even if it makes it a longer game, I wanna see a postseason style offense.
It was a particularly small egg...thats why I asked.

totally agree
I agree with this 100% id rather see us be able to know how to manufacture that hit a couple bombs. You cant rely on the HR in the postseason with the pitching of the Brewers and Phils.

While I agree
I want to make sure we have a postseason to manufacture runs in! Right now is the best time for the Braves to put some distance between themselves and the Cards. Their schedule gets easier.
But realistically any win would be good with me
Really excited about today's game.
Let’s put some runs on the board early for Beachy so he can settle in and drop that Magic Number by another game.

Always worried about his abilities to scoop. But here’s to the bravos! Making plans to come to Atlanta from Michigan for a playoff game.
Perhaps a tc get together?

I hope Jason has a big game. I really do. I’d rather focus on that now than rehash this argument
Cam Newton is still one of the best athletes at his level.

Yea, which is why I thought making it had value. I truly believe that. If I clarified by saying on Offense it’s a no doubter. But I really think that there is nothing that Cam Newton can’t do with a football. Part of his skill is his diversity and the fact that he can do so many things with a football.

There are few people as athletic as he is and among those people a very tiny percentage play a position with as big of an impact as QB. The fact that he is young speaks more to raw athletic ability than accomplishments, which was my point all along.

i agree that he is a great athlete
but in the nfl it takes a lot more than just being an athlete to succeed. he had a hell of a first game, but i dont think he’s going to be a great qb in the nfl. but hey if he keeps doing what he did last week i’ll have to shut up

Let's score early
And often Bravos. These games where we have 1 run or less in the 7th inning are getting to me. It’s like they sleepwalk thru half the game and then…. oh I think we might want to try hitting now.
At least Reyes isn't playing
I really hate that sombish
I really hate
The whole lefty/righty mentality. Sometimes it might be useful if the numbers are statistically significant, if not… just put the best guys in the lineup
Platoon effects are real, and in any case, Hinske is much better than Diaz. Hell, Constanza is a better option than Diaz this year.
Against righties, or oeverall?

He’s below league-average against LHP and against RHP he’s below replacement level. “Killed” was a little strong, but it is his one skill set and it is non-existent this year.
Not even close to true:
Against Lefties: .302/.343 /.357
That slugging is pretty crappy but those numbers are not, as a whole, below league average
Sgt.: Pointed stick? Oh, oh, oh. We want to learn how to defend ourselves against pointed sticks, do we? Getting all high and mighty, eh? Fresh fruit not good enough for you eh? That assumes that wRC+ is equal for righties and lefties. I’m not sure that it is necessarily true, but even if you assume it is, the Braves are below league average in hitting. And since we are talking about a role he would play as a specialized hitter for the Braves, it’s more important to assess his value in those terms. I understand I specified league-average, but while I don’t believe that he is bad against lefties, he is very valuable as a Brave as a RH vs LHP

Deep counts happen when you strike people out. Roy Halladay doesn’t get 8 Ks on 16 pitches.

.304 2990 hits and 497 HR

If that were to actually happen, you gotta think he’d come back, even if only for 2 months, to try and round those numbers off.

He didn’t really miss it. He hit it hard enough to kill someone. Turner flew up into the air while fielding it on the short hop because of how hard it was hit.

This team is going to be really, really bad in the playoffs if, in addition to really inconsistent hitting, we can’t get good outings from Beachy and Venters.
That assumes that we are now a crappy team. We aren’t, we’ve just had a few bad occurrences lately. You’ve gotta think we’re getting it out of our system. It’s statistically improbable that we keep sucking and things like Jonny walking 4 straight and Beachy getting hammered are unlikely. We’re just getting all the suck out of our system before the NLDS.

Oakland drove the ball to score a TD for the lead with about 3 minutes to go. Buffalo answered and drove the field and scored with under a minute to go. Campbell just threw a Hail Mary from his own 40 yard line with 1 second to go that looked to be caught by his receiver, but then wrestled away by a Buffalo defender to seal the win.

I really hope we don't go to extras
I wouldn’t want to regret the fact that we pinch ran for Chipper Jones when all Jack Wilson has done has walk to second and then easily advance to third on a flyball
My buddy and I just decided that the braves would be set if we could get Matt Kemp, Jose Reyes, and Albert Pujols.

I’d take extras over not scoring here

If he doesn’t start from here on out, Jack Del Rio needs to be fired.
McCown is the worst QB in the NFL.

Gabbert right now, is not better than David Garrard.
Gabbert WILL be better than David, or at least, has a higher ceiling than David.
With Garrard, we had a shot at the division. With Gabbert or McCown this year, we have a shot at a top 10 draft pick.

Not trolling
just disappointed in the amount of fail today
2 bases loaded walks, one to the pitcher. Yeh we finally scored some runs….. but the hits following the walks account for the rest of the runs… completely unnecessary. I certainly hope the phillies win the next 2 because i dont trust the astros or cubs to take care of the cards

I don’t think we have ever won a game this season when O’Ventbrel allows the opponent to take the lead. This is not looking good. Not only is our starting pitching a question mark, even the backend of the bullpen has been shaky. If we make the playoffs, I’m not as confident as before about our chances. But who knows, a major collapse is now a possibility, which I never entertained just a few games back.
back end is not shaky, they’ve been outstanding all season. these things happen, its not like it’s happened a LOT. what is more concerning is that we have only one dependable starter, and our offense is, shall we say, not Yankees-like.
Beachy walking the pitcher with the sacks full is…beyond terrible. We win the game if not for that. The strikeouts are nice and all, but he does not pitch deep into games and blows up way too often.
You do realize that time is on our side, right?
