It's Going to be a Televised Spring for the Braves

If you're like me and you can't wait until that very first hint of spring, then you're in luck as you won't have to wait longer than the very first Braves game of Spring Training. Between the MLB Network, Fox Sports South, and ESPN, there will be tons of Braves games on TV this spring. Here is a rundown:

Tuesday, March 2nd @ 1pm - Braves vs. Mets on MLB
Tuesday, March 9th @ 7pm - Phillies vs. Braves on CSS (Comcast?) and MLB
Thursday, March 11th @ 7pm - Braves vs. Yankees on CSS and MLB
Tuesday, March 16th @ 1pm - Marlins vs. Braves on FSS and MLB
Wednesday, March 17th @ 1pm - Braves vs. Marlins on FSS and MLB
Tuesday, March 23rd @ 1pm - Braves vs. Mets on ESPN
Wednesday, March 24th @ 1pm - Phillies vs. Braves on ESPN
Friday, March 26th @ 1pm - Tigers vs. Braves on ESPN
Tuesday, March 30th @ 1pm - Yankees vs. Braves on CSS
Wednesday, March 31st @ 1pm - Astros vs. Braves on CSS and MLB

That's an impressive slate of games -- at least two each week. The last two games back in Atlanta will also be televised on Fox Sports South, the 2nd and 3rd of April.

The only downside to this spring television schedule is that there are no weekend games. I suppose I'll be pushing the limits of my DVR or playing a lot of hookie from work.

Great to see

Sweet. I guess I’ll have to put MLB The Show 10 down for a couple hours to watch the game on Tuesday.

Yeah, Dish sucks rocks on this. But I’ll be at work for most of them anyway. Bugging the hell out of my co-worker by listening on the radio.

It might be the baseballs

Per tweet from DOB: “No vehicular damage wrought by Jason Heyward BP blasts today; just one titanic shot that cleared parking lot and yellow wall behind it.”
I decided to do a little Google Earth ranging. The only field at Disney with cars and a wall beyond right field is the main ballpark. Best average approximate I can make is about 460 feet to clear that wall beyond the cars. Oh. My.

by carpengui on Feb 26, 2010 1:57 PM EST up reply actions

uh, “approximation”. (I figure the error is +/- 15 feet, but then he didn’t hit the wall, he cleared it).

CSS is Comcast Sports. In my neck of the woods (Cobb County) it’s channel 45. Guess ESPN is saving weekends for the Yankees and Red Sox….

To be more specific, it’s always Mountain Standard Time, where other parts of the nation vary from Standard to Daylight. So it’s not so much that you guys flip back and forth as the rest of the nation moves back and forth around you.

To make it more complicated, Navajo reservations within Arizona do observe DST, but the Hopi reservations inside the Navajo reservations do not.

I think I’m getting a headache.

Okay, help me understand something here: Is that “dry heat” business complete bunk? People always tell me the heat in the Midwest and Southwest isn’t as oppressive as in the Deep South because it’s less humid. Is that true?

by TheLetter2 on Feb 28, 2010 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

that's total BS

Sure, it might not be humid, but 100 degrees is hot no matter where you are. “Dry Heat” is a joke.

by Scott Coleman on Feb 28, 2010 7:43 PM EST up reply actions

This may be true

But 102 degree Vegas desert outdoors feels a lot nicer than an 88 degree Atlanta evening.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

by royhobbs on Feb 28, 2010 9:48 PM EST up reply actions

Eh, humidity doesnt really bother me, but i can def. see where you’re coming from. Either way, I’d prefer to avoid both of those scenarios.

All I know is after three days outside at games in 40 degree weather with 25 mph plus wind, I’d take a little heat.

This. Hopefully I’ll be able to make the time to watch. Though maybe I can set up slingbox and watch MLB Network

any of the braves spring games on MLB.TV?

by atl192485 on Feb 26, 2010 4:00 PM EST reply actions

It says over 150 games (all teams not Braves)

but I haven’t seen a schedule. I’ve wondered the same thing

by eaheckman10 on Feb 26, 2010 4:27 PM EST up reply actions

Last year if it was televised MLB.TV would pick up the feed. I’m assuming/hoping it will be the same this year

by Slee on Feb 26, 2010 5:20 PM EST up reply actions

Scrolling through the MLB.TV calendar, they have almost all of the games listed. Whether they pick up the feed I’m not sure

by eaheckman10 on Feb 26, 2010 6:31 PM EST up reply actions

If it’s on any TV channel, it’ll be on there, IIRC.

I added the MLB Network to my Comcast today for,

$10 bucks a month. I should be able to get all the games now!
Go Braves!

When asked what aspects of Heyward’s game need improvement, one scout simply replied, "Nothing."

by HEYJUDE on Feb 26, 2010 8:56 PM EST reply actions

it was $10 bucks a month just for MLBN? Or did you get other premium channels too? I have Comcast too and have one of the lower level packages, but I don’t think I pay extra for it

24 Mar vs. Phillies

I’ll be at this game.

Heading home from Afghanistan (finally) on March 7… taking the family to Disney the week before Spring Break. Look for the guy who is 6’4", 240 lbs, wearing an old-school Murphy spring training jersey, and happy as sh*t to be back home… that’ll be me!
