Game 150 Recap: Braves 11, Mets 3

I'd be happy if every game the rest of the season was like this one -- lots of early runs, good pitching, a Braves win. Derek Lowe bounced back from the blister he suffered last start to get his 15th win, and Kenshin Kawakami picked up the piggy-back-start save by 1-hitting the Mets over the last 4 innings. Maybe we found something that can work with 6 starters next year... I mean, the Lowe-Kawakami combo only cost us $22 million a year, but if they can do this every fifth day we might be on to something. (Fat chance, right?)

The Braves offense got homeruns from Garret Anderson, Matt Diaz (again), and Chipper Jones, all against the Mets starter, Pat Misch. It will never, never, ever, never get old beating up on the Mets. Derek Lowe even chipped in with 2 hits, and Kawakami got on base with a walk -- a good day all around for Braves pitchers.

I didn't do too much of watching this game... it was the season premier of Heroes -- priorities.

I'm with ya on Heroes!

Are you going to be checking out FlashForward on Thursday? I’m a huge LOST fan and I’m hoping this will be at least half as good. Your thoughts?

Oh yeah, great butt-whoopin’ by the Braves tonight. Win every game. Now.

I'm real into Heroes...

But this FlashForward crap looks creepy, at best.

Remember when the Panthers had a good offensive line? Yeah, me too.

Same here with Heroes

Yeah, the look at the upcoming episodes at the end got me jacked up. Looks like an interesting year.

I give just about every new show a chance to impress me (unless it’s on CBS, I just hate every show on CBS — it’s the way they cast those shows and promote them, I can’t f-in stand ’em).

I never got into Lost… I’m kinda glad actually. Everyone says it’s so great, but then complains about it all the time too.

I’m pretty excited that creepy compass guy is on Heroes. I really enjoyed his character on Prison Break, though his accent in PB was much better than it was last night.

Good job tonight boys

Your early 8 run lead let me watch my Colts on MNF. Muchos gracias.

I’m starting to think that maybe Lowe should be in the pen instead of KK.

I’ve thought this for a while, but he costs too much, I’m assuming, to be relegated to the bullpen.

DL showed stay in the rotation. He should easily had 17 wins by now

I mentioned this on the game thread, but is anybody else bothered by the fact that we got no-hit after the 3rd inning?

Not really. It would be hard for many to stay focused and continue to press offensively when you’ve amassed 11 runs in 3 innings. If they started to come back on us, I would have been concerned, but D-Lo & KK had them on lockdown tonight! I’m thinking the guys probably relaxed a bit mentally after that.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t carry over like it seems it has at times this year.

if we had shown the ability to come back and keep scoring more this year I would feel better about it. But we’ve shown a tendency this year to score very early in games then stop.

Yeah....

Every silver lining has its cloud. We wouldn’t want to find too much positive with an 11-3 victory.

One show has the capacity to actually, you know, have an original plot each week.

The other has rehashed the same storyline for years nwo.

Meh

original doesn’t equal good though. I use to like the show but the writing is overall pretty poor and cliche.

I’m sort of with you on this with Heroes. I like the show and all, but every episode I’m thinking of a dozen different and better ways I would have taken the plot. It’s still fun, though.

As for House, the whole solve the medical mystery thing is not really what the show is about for me. I watch it for the witty dialogue and subtle humor.

I’ll be watching House when I get home tonight (it’s DVR’ed). Don’t lose any respect, now. I re-watched last year’s season finale of House last night in preparation for the new season. I’m pretty f-in excited about this year’s House.

SEASON PREMIER OF HEROES?????

Peyton orchestrates a win while having the ball less than 15 minutes on MNF and you watch Heroes?? Priorities??? More like poor DVR usage…

by Mark Lempke on Sep 22, 2009 12:17 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Speaking of poor dvr usage, i took a chance by canceling my wife’s (who wasn’t home yet) “Jon and Kate plus 8” so i could record Heroes on tv2, but watch it and be able to check on the Braves on tv1. Ballsy, but luckily they replayed it around midnight, but i didn’t know that at the time.

yeah, that kind of move is not for the faint of heart, but i played the odds that its cable, and that episode would likely re-air, if not that night, then in the very near future.

I’m just an idiot – so I cancel my wife’s recordings of “Real Housewives of (Insert city here)” all the time to catch some better show.

I used to be all into Heroes, then Season 2.5 started and I just lost interest. The most recent season was pretty embarrassing, IMO.

I am a 24 kind of guy myself….that and Hell’s Kitchen!

I can do without season 6, like many, but Jack Bauer is my hero.

And Tony Almeida.
