"I think he's going to look good in [Yankees] pinstripes in six years," Francoeur joked.
Frenchy talking about Tommy Hanson | Braves.com
Francoeur was joking... but really? You know, when you're actually a good player, the home team usually tries to sign you long term, like they did with Brian McCann (and like they tried to do with you, Francoeur, when they thought you were a good player). Like they did with Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones, John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux... the Braves have a long history of wrapping up their top players, especially top home-grown players. Francoeur had the opportunity, and he didn't, so maybe he just doesn't understand how this organization works. And I wonder why he's no longer here...

Jeff’s going to look real good playing for my cousin’s Tee Ball team as well, all the parents say he looks like he has some nice potential. In all seriousness, Jeff seriously f*** off, the only people that really miss you are the teenage girls (and brian mccann)

maybe...
not even McCann….

Better talk to the coach...
of that Tee Ball team. Jeff’s only going to get pissed off when he gets moved to 8th in the batting order. Maybe he’s not the guy they’re looking for.
Shut the hell up. No one cares what you say. I’m glad you fell flat on your face just a few minutes ago on the McCann double.
fuck off jeff. have fun in 4th place the next few seasons.

If the Mets werent so badly injured, theyd be in first place.
And they could be next year assuming Reyes, Beltran, Santana, Maine, and Putz return. And they will be top players for Holliday or Bay and perhaps Lackey.
Don't fire Bobby.
their pitching is garbage. They’re counting on John Maine to be their #2 starter and Oliver Perez to be their #3. Thats horrible.

It'd be tough sending someone within the division...
but if we can’t get the Yankees to bite, the rotation you describe is exactly why I think Derek Lowe could be sent to the Mets. They are said to have been interested in him last year, and could really use a sure thing in that starting rotation next year with Santana coming off his injury. Maybe you could even swipe a nice prospect in return like Reese Havens or Jefry Marte.
And if the Mets didn't sign so many guys the wrong side of 32, they wouldn't have so many guys injured
Apparently you didn’t hear the news about the Wilpons. Most of their dough is tied up in real estate. Seen how that’s been doing the last year or so? And the money they didn’t have in real estate, they invested with Bernie Madoff. This off-season the Mets won’t be spending big bux on free agent, they’ll be lucky to be able to afford office supplies.
by the time Hanson even reaches arbitration Lowe, Javy, KK, and Hudson will all be gone. the highest paid player with be McCann other than that we are dealing with a whole bunch of arbitration cases. Please believe that the Braves will lock up Hanson AND Heyward. Freeman and Schafer wont be too far behind if they are performing as expected
I believe
they will let J.J. go.
he’s a Boras client and we have some other arms coming through the system in Minor, Teheran, plus all those others in AA and A Ball. In 3 years they should be knocking at the door.
At the same time Andruw and Maddux were Boras clients and we were able to keep them around.
It would def be nice to have Hanson and JJ as our 1/2 punch in a few years.

well
we did manage to sign Lowe, albeit to limited competition, so clearly we can work with Mr. Ass. So maybe there is hope for signing JJ, especially if he wants to say
You are *almost*
as amazing as Matt Diaz..

(Yunel is still the Queen of Hearts)
Who cares who his agent is?...
the agent works for the player, not the other way around. If Jurrjens wants to stay and we offer him a contract he likes, his agent doesn’t mean jack. At 23, he’s arguably been our best starter each of the last two years, and here we are talking about letting him go? Because he’s going to want to get paid commensurate to his worth, seriously?
thats not always true with Boras clients… i firmly beleive Teixiera works for Boras… among other players.
but i would agree the agent is working for JJ here (i would hope)
Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?
by fatazfoot on Jan 7, 2009 8:59 PM EST
that's why
a JJ for Braun idea could be very appealing for both teams for the next 4-5 years.

Looks like Francoeur is right at home as a Met.
"Here comes Bream! Here's the throw to the plate! He is...safe! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win!...Braves win!"
Something we all should learn...
Just because it’s true doesn’t mean you should say it. Dick move, Frenchy.
If Faily had as many XBH and walks as he has useless, shitty sound-bytes, he might be a useful player.
Q: If on-base pct is so important then why don't they put it on the scoreboard? -Failcoeur
A: Because the Braves don't want to show their fans how bad you suck.

PLEASE LOOK AT THIS
Two brothers from Panama, watched one baseball game in each of the stadiums of MLB in a span of 30 days, and they did it by car.
They are producing a documentary of the journey, look at the trayler I found. I was surprised that Tommy Hanson was part of it……
Congratulations to themm!!!! WAOOOOOO
Meh
He’s probably just jealous. And with good reason, I might add.

“Francoeur is gonna look good selling used cars in Lilburn, GA in a few years.” Hanson seriously explained.
A man walks into a meat shoppe and goes to the counter. The cashier asks, "Thinking about buying some meat?". The man replied, "No, I'm going to buy meat, I was thinking about punanny."
"Tell 'em Frenchy sent ya!"
………..lol. Nice. But didn’t you mean, “Hanson recently explained” ?

It’s not necessarily real, but I can read Tommy’s inner most thoughts, so it kinda is…

It's time fans and Francoeur alike
to let bygones be bygones. Take it for what it was: He was an exciting, homegrown prospect for several years. He hit a wall and fell out of favor. His comment was classless but, still, it’s time to bury the tomahawk.
He’s had some success producing with the Mets but that will probably fade quickly and he’ll be out of favor here too.
-Mets fan
Oh dear...
I just had to share this insightful, informed fan’s comment from the MLB.com article that Frenchy’s quote is from:
You really kind of have to be a moron not to see that Frenchy will be a superstar in MLB. The guy has so many natural gifts, a great attitude and work ethic. The only thing he was missing in ATL was a hitting coach, a manager and a informed fan base

Possible comment from Mrs. Frenchy…..

In French's defense...
his #s are pretty improved since leaving town and it’s starting to get to be a decent sample size (over 200 ABs). His ops is nearly .200 higher from .634 to .822. He’s got Andruw in him where you know he’ll never learn to lay off pitches, but he may well produce as a Met.

His Babip is up almost 50 points…that might have something to do with it.
his average and his OBP are less than 20 points apart, iirc.

OK then...
I don’t see much of the advanced stats, so I’ll take your word for it. It’ll be interesting to see how he does next year.
lol
while i agree with hitting coach, the manager had his back from DAY ONE. always believed in him even when he was hitting a paltry .150. the issue is that both parties are better now that they’re separated and people should leave that as that.

is this
a ploy to get the Yankees to pony up some cash for Frenchy this off-season?
i mean, they’ll need some outfielders (i’m thinking they let Matsui and Damon go via free agency…to sign Holliday and Frenchy could be a good RF/#8 hitter for them) and they do have a history of turning other people’s crap into borderline good players (Paul O’Neil anyone?).
i hope he goes there, hits 20 bombs before the all star break, is then crowned the second coming of dimaggio and then tears his ACL trying to beat out a weak infield single, never to be heard from again.
i hate wishing ill on anyone, but he guy is beginning to piss me off.
by apoxonbothyourhouses on Sep 18, 2009 1:42 AM EDT reply actions
But if he tears his ACL...
We won’t be able to see him fall on his face in right field every few weeks. Don’t take that away from me.
