weve got to come out strong against Bergensen like we did against the last 2 O’s starters. Here’s to hoping Frenchy can manage an RBI for the 3rd straight game!

I know FYF has had a good showing this series, but is it normal for a manager to consistently put two guys (those being KJ and FYF) in the lineup back to back who are struggling? It seems like a inning killer when we come around to that area in the lineup.

the Cubs have actually scored less runs that we have and they have a lot of offensive talent. I’m not saying Pendleton is great, but we have three guys capable of putting up .800 OPS and haven’t had a healthy lineup since opening day jsut about.

Or getting the close ones called by the ump.

NEGATIVITY

This thread is ridiculously depressing… I understand we’re losing and I understand we are not beating a team we should beat, but let’s get some perspective here.

Baseball games have nine innings and we’re only through two of those. We have one of the best pitchers in baseball throwing today and we’re only down three. And even if we do lose this game, who gives a shit. We’re not a bad team and we have a lineup many teams would love to have. Give the lineup some time to gel… we’ll be ok

by Cammando2317 on Jun 14, 2009 2:06 PM EDT reply actions

Many teams would not like to have our lineup. We’ve got 5 batters instead of the requisite 8.

by BullManUGA on Jun 14, 2009 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Also, it is the middle of June. The time for gelling is over.

by BullManUGA on Jun 14, 2009 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

McLouth’s new, Barbaro’s new

by Cammando2317 on Jun 14, 2009 2:08 PM EDT up reply actions

The horse is not going to be up for any length of time, nor is he what I would call a Major League player. As for McLouth, he has had other good games in our lineup.

by BullManUGA on Jun 14, 2009 2:09 PM EDT up reply actions

and this best pitcher is ridiculously off so far today

by Zeus12888 on Jun 14, 2009 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m not denying that, bub…

by Cammando2317 on Jun 14, 2009 2:09 PM EDT up reply actions

while i do appreciate the positive outlook you are providing here…the season is over 60 games in and shouldn’t need time to “gel”…how long do they need?…75 games…100?

Cockchafer

by bpk228480 on Jun 14, 2009 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, there is something to comment on when your ace is walking a couple and giving up a few hits in the first couple of innings. If we only commented when good things happened, this thread would be deserted a majority of the time. I think our attitude is pretty decent today. We’re just commenting on the game that is taking place in front of us.

by Gage23 on Jun 14, 2009 2:08 PM EDT up reply actions

exactly…isnt the game thread supposed to be us reacting to the game at hand and talking to eachother about it?

Cockchafer

by bpk228480 on Jun 14, 2009 2:09 PM EDT up reply actions

reacting or overreacting? that’s what I’m debating…

by Cammando2317 on Jun 14, 2009 2:10 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m rereading the comments and I don’t see any over reactions. It’s simply a pitch by pitch reaction.

by Gage23 on Jun 14, 2009 2:11 PM EDT up reply actions

With all due respect -

that’s opinion call. Some would think it’s overreaction, some may think it’s communicating in text what we’re feeling at home real time as we watch the game….no edits.

No one will stop being Braves fans today, but some may express what it feels like to be a fan of this team today, right now, this game and I don’ think they should be made to feel like it’s not the thing to do.

good point, but you cant tell me it doesn’t bother you when start to hear how “horrendous we are” and how we “should start thinking about becoming sellers” with the implication that we should just pack it in for 2009 and hope for a chance in 2010

by Cammando2317 on Jun 14, 2009 2:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Nah, in all honesty it doesn’t bother me.

I guess because I find myself sitting here yelling at my TV (much to the chagrin of the hubby and dog who would rather nap) and so I completely understand those who feel passionately when things go awry.

It’s been a frustrating team to watch this year. We struggle to maintain .500 and never seem to be able to get a streak going. We play teams who are supposedly “struggling” and yet they seem to always play like champions against us.

The Jeckyl/Hyde nature of this team has taxed even the most ardent fan this year – so I’m willing to give the bloggers here a bit of a pass on the extremes of emotion I read and sometimes participate in

this is terrible

but not surprising for this team… the on-again, off-again play of this team is very much a team effort. no one is immune so yeah Lowe will probably have a great game next time and we’ll just continue to hover at or around .500 all year.

it’s going to be interesting to see if our trend in recent years of playing to the level of our competition proves true in the upcoming stretch. how awesome would it be if we were able to win those series? i think it’s definately in the realm of possibilities.

Well now. With that inning mercifully over....

Hubby just left for a ride on his Harley, I’m going to go bake a cake to take it to my Mom later when I go visit her. I was planning on going after the game, but I just may get to leave early.

I’ll keep the game on the background and peek in here from time to time while the cake is baking.

Oh and cammando2317, I did answer your inquiry above.

Its time to take a braves break for a while if even Lowe cant get to the 4th. I felt like Major League 2, when the Wild Thing was pulled in the bottom of the first.
