Game 24 Recap: Astros 7, Braves 5
Another game that really sucked and is not really worth recapping in any sort of detail. If you'd like a recap go here or here. I'm sort of disgusted today after a 3-hour flight delay on my 4-hour flight to Irvine for work. I'm on the left coast most of the week, so be prepared for sporadic updates. As always, good FanPosts are promoted to the front page.

I don’t think anyone can really say “RAWR ITS JUST ONE BAD OUTING!!!” for Moylan anymore. This week alone he allowed runs in 2 appearances that ended up being the margin we lost by. The walks are still an issue, 5 in his last 5 1/3. Its kinda maddening

I wonder how much longer we keep running him out there until we realize that maybe he came back from his injury a little early.

The question becomes, who do we send in as Moylan’s replacement? Lets assume that Soriano and Gonzalez together have the 8th / 9th covered. Bennett has a tiny ERA, but a huge 1.89 WHIP, worse than Moylan, so he’s likely not much better. Carlyle is (right now), the token “long man”, so it doesn’t make sense to bring him in for an inning at a time. Parr currently is the “mop up guy”, someone we only send in when we are up or down big (and who has given up runs in 3 out of his 4 appearances). That leaves us with O’Flaherty (sp?), who is supposed to be our “LOOGY”.
So, the options would seem to be: 1) Use O’Flaherty as the new “7th” inning guy, 2) keep things as they are, 3) call up someone. Not sure who that someone would be. Is Campillo expected back anytime soon?
I spent my Sunday afternoon with friends/family. It was much more satisfying than it would have been wasting the time watching the Braves come up short again. And at home against the Astros – sad.
Until the Braves start playing more like the talent they possess, I’m less likely to spend as much time hoping, no make that praying they find a way to eek out at least 1 win a series.
I know it’s early, but not much to be motivated by as a fan these days with the inconsistency. They have the talent.
