[The Braves are] 6-1 this season when Chipper is in the lineup, 0-5 when he’s not. When he’s in, the Braves are averaging 5.6 runs per game. When he’s not, they’re averaging 3.4 runs per game. Now, is one guy that important?
Carroll Rogers asks the question on the ACJ blog
It's probably a lot of luck, but it's also probably a lot of confidence for the other guys in the lineup. When Chipper's not in there, other guys might also be in spots in the order they are not generally comfortable in.

I remember the team doing really well in the last game against the Phillies without Chipper. We scored ten runs against them. I commented on how well we played without him and was glad that the young ball club could carry the team without the third-baseman with a batting title. Maybe the guys just think they can’t because they lost anyway? I just remember being really impressed with how we were scoring runs without Chipper in the lineup. Then everyone got in a slump for a few games. Right now, I don’t think it’s being hot or not without Chipper. We did well without him that game (even though we lost) and everyone is responsible for the slump. Chipper isn’t the biggest factor in my eyes, although arguably I realize he could have a small effect on demeanor.
