Update on the injury to the Braves' Jason Heyward

Atlanta Braves and baseball's top prospect Jason Heyward has not played in an Arizona Fall League game since Saturday. From Keith Law's chat wrap here is what he said about the injury:

Minor leg injury - hamstring, I think.

The little nagging injuries are creeping up every now and then with Heyward. I don't know whether to think this is a chronic thing or just the byproduct of playing the game all-out. Let's hope Heyward can get back in the saddle. This makes me think back to the injury that cut short Jordan Schafer's stint in the Mexican Winter League last winter. I know Schafer's injury during the regular season was what may have caused much of his bad play, but he also missed half of the games in the Mexican League that he could have played in to get tuned up for the season because of the injury.

But Schafer does have that fancy pitching machine...

so once he’s healthy, he can get as many at bats as he wants, right?

If

It’s Phuckers vs Skankees, I’m not gonna even bother watching the world series for the 2nd year in a row.

Well, i watched bits and pieces and usually tried to catch the last inning or so, but I didn’t make it a point to watch the games. I could really care less about the Phillies, Rays and Yankees. They dont really have any former Braves to cheer for and the Phillies and Yankees are probably my 2 least favorite teams in baseball.

It's weird to say it

But Heyward is probably still a growing boy. Some people grow all the way up until they’re like 24-25, and it’s often discussed how a player’s power doesn’t fully peak and mature until they’re 28-30. It’s kind of like watching college basketball players differ from their freshman years to their senior years – at a massive and yet lean and thin 6’5, Heyward’s probably grown a little fast, and the bones and muscles are struggling to keep up, resulting in some nagging pains.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Im hoping that after the AFL ends, Jason gets on a good weight program and can add on a few pounds. It can only help his power development.

No, royhobbs and the still growing thing. You’re good, I’m just busting chops anyway.

I don’t have all the time in the world like I used to (during work) to peruse every single post anymore. Mom got real bitchy, and wants her basement, immaculate.

man, is there anything matty can’t do!

by Hcgadawgs on Oct 23, 2009 1:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He was awesome on that segment

For those who missed it: Skip Bayliss runs mouth about Diaz getting picked off third to end the game, Matt Diaz calls him old and expounds on why Torii Hunter’s similar situation last night was still smart baserunning. Rest of panel, other than Skip agrees with him. Then, Matty is does the “expert analysis” on CC Sabathia, since he owns him. Came across witty, intelligent and nicely dressed. Which is three more nice things than we can say about most of the people behind a desk on that channel anymore.
