Braves @ Mets Open Thread: Game 1

Atlanta Braves @ New York Mets

If ever, in these last few days, we have something to play for it is that during the last six weeks of this season we play the Mets nine times. That's nine opportunities to deny our biggest rival a place in the postseason (they, having done the deed themselves last year). We start off the series facing possibly the toughest nut for the Braves to crack -- Oliver Perez. Perez was 4-and-1 against us last year, but has not faced the Braves this season.

We can help control the destinies of both the Marlins and the Phillies, whom we play six times apiece (and we've already helped the Phillies out considerably), but with nine games against the Metropolitans we have the opportunity to inflict some real damage. Here are the division standings as of today:

NL East Standings

W L PCT GB STRK
New York 68 57 .544 0 Lost 1
Philadelphia 66 58 .532 1.5 Won 1
Florida 64 61 .512 4 Lost 1
Atlanta 56 69 .448 12 Lost 2
Washington 44 81 .352 24 Lost 10

Screw being alone here…I’m going to call Ronnie to go eat brassato with the townies shootin’ small hoops with 8-ball and the most interesting man in the world ‘cause I got sawdust in my veins, ace of spaaaades in my head, and I’m thirsty my friends.

j/k, I’m headin’ home from work.

i’d MUCH rather the mets reach the playoffs than the phillies. the sense of entitlement with philly fans is MUCH higher.

I can't help it...

I hate the Mets with a passion. The entire city of New York has an unacceptable sense of entitlement.

i pray you never have to deal with any philly fans. for your own sake of course

I admit...

…I’ve never had to deal with either team’s fans very much, except at Turner Field or within the interwebs. I have clashed quite a bit with the Mets variety. I think it’s just the whole New York thing I really dislike.

did we seriously just score 3 runs without hitting a ball hard?

Bobby Cox needs to sign a contract through 2020.

Why sit idly by?

Seattle, SD, nor Washington deserve him more than us.

look at his splits. his shittiness has come directly after he passed his career high in innings. coincidence? of course not

So......

I’m guessing you can’t see my sarcasam. Boyer has been pretty bad becuase of his overuse. Then he says that overuse has nothing to do with how bad he’s been pitching. So, if he’s saying that overuse has nothing to do with it, he’s saying he just sucks. I understand that he’s pitching more innings than ever, I was just being humorous.
