Jones, Hudson to DL in flurry of moves | Braves.com
Seriously, this is a total indication that we're in sell mode. No Hudson + No Chipper = No Playoffs.
Other moves:
The Braves announced six roster moves a few hours before Monday's series opener with the Cardinals, to be started by Charlie Morton, who was recalled from Triple-A Richmond.
Third baseman Chipper Jones, nursing a left hamstring strain, was placed on the 15-day disabled list for the first time this season. Right-hander Tim Hudson, fighting tightness in his right elbow, was also placed on the DL, and lefty Jo-Jo Reyes was optioned to Triple-A Richmond.
Pitcher Jeff Bennett was promoted to the Braves from Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach, and catcher Clint Sammons was also recalled.

I didn't realize that
we have a pitcher and a catcher named Jeff Bennett.
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
One hell of a battery.
I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

Why would we carry 4 catchers?
I assume to cover for Mac being out, but c’mon, 4? and a guy from High-A?
I don’t get it. Do they mean Jeff Bennett, the pitcher, who was rehabbing? This doesn’t seem right.
Jeff Bennett Rehabbing
Its a misprint, seems with all of the moves they didn’t do any fact checking.

Tex to the D-Backs for Tracy, Parker, and Parra.
Tex to the Angels for Morales, Adenhart and Walden.
Tex to the …..
I honestly just don’t see another fit. None. Yanks, nope. Red Sox, not unless they deal Manny, ain’t happening. Rays, DH Carlos Pena? No.
That’s it to me. I really think the D-Backs would deal Parker if it came down to it. I have less faith that the Angels would even give up Adenhart, despite his struggles. D-Backs for Parker, Parra and Tracy. Get…...it…...DONE.
There is a Paul Bennett in Myrtle Beach, but surely it isn't him
Paul is an infield-bench player type fo guy. It’s got to be Jeff the pitcher.
It is Jeff Bennett the P
ESPN article confirms that. Apparently the Braves site isn’t big on fact-checking.
darn
I was hoping we would at some point hear, “And Bennett delivers the 0-2 to Bennett…misses. Now Jeff is out to talk to Jeff. Alright, Jeff Bennett set to deliver, strike 3! Oh, but it gets past Jeff Bennett! Bennett throws to first, and gets him.” K-PB by Bennett x 2.

Tonight's lineup
According to DOB, he says,
“By the way, I’ve seen two different lineups for tonight, one with Norton hitting cleanup and one with Kotsay in that spot.”
My oh my, we’ve fallen on hard times….
THIS JUST IN- Via Rotoworld/MLB Trade Rumors
Yahoo! Sports’ Steve Henson reports that negotiations between the Diamondbacks and Braves are “pretty far along.”
Henson believes the Braves are asking for either Conor Jackson or Chad Tracy, plus a prospect. Jackson is likely off the table, but if the Braves are willing to accept Tracy as the centerpiece of a deal, then the Diamondbacks have to seriously consider making the trade. Still, it could come down to the prospect. The Diamondbacks don’t have much to offer besides Max Scherzer and Jarrod Parker after giving up a big portion of their system for Dan Haren, and it’s doubtful that they’d part with either right-hander.
Gotta get Parker back in that deal…..or Scherzer, but I really would be suprised if the D-Backs gave him up.
Haha
That was funny.
Seriously though, if I hear Gerardo Parra, Dallas Buck and Chad Tracy, I am going to flip!!!!
Jarrod Parker or Max Scherzer need to be in the deal. If they aren’t, then I have lost a lot of respect for the Braves brass.
And I’d rather have Parker than Scherzer. Scherzer’s arm action scares me. He is a serious labrum or TJ surgery candidate.
That would be a solid deal actually. Tex is worth basically two picks at this point, as his production over the next two months won’t be more than a win better than Tracy – and it’s irrelevant from a preformance standpoint if we’re 75-87 or 76-86 – and he won’t be more likely to resign if we keep him around.
Parra and Buck aren’t premier prospects, but Parra has a great arm, plays great defense, steals bases at a high enough rate to be valuable, and is developing as a hitter. He probably won’t ever be a prototypical power hitter, but something like a 300/350/450 with 20/25 SBs and great defense in RF would be valuable.
Buck is a bit shakier because of the injury history, and I’d prefer Roemer or Enright myself. Both have the chance to pitch at the back of the rotation and we wouldn’t get much better if we drafted a college guy next summer with the supplemental pick, they’d just be two years further from the bigs.
I’ve said before that Chad Tracy could be an extremely valuable part of a 1B platoon next season if we find him a righty to matchup with as he absolutely lights up right handed pitching. Exposing him full-time would be a mistake, but he’s controlled for $11.75 million total in 09 and 10, definitely cheap enough for a guy getting 500 PAs a season as the heavy half of a 1B platoon and pinch hitter/occasional third baseman.
I’d take the deal above if it was the best available, largely because our hands are tied and the value in it surpasses that of two draft picks.
