Oh but, you are not getting thee Q!
No seriously… Good luck with this guy. He probably likes the NL so much, because he knows he’s getting yanked by the 6th anyways. He will give you 4-7 good innings depending on whether he is utilizing his fast ball or trying to trick hitters with thigh high change ups over the middle of the plate. He gets into a bad habit of trying to throw all of his pitches when facing a batter. I realize AJ throws down the signs and sometimes the signs come from the dugout but, in the end, Javy has the ball. I still wish him the best. So long Javy. Hello prospects!
Way to go danks
bitch can’t throw more than 130 innings a season? Trade him. He has no balls

Did anyone expect FW to do this good?
After that train wreck he created in Baltimore a few years back, I thought that we were screwed for the next few years. But aside from dumping Tex for an average 1B and a decent prospect pitcher, he has been pretty good so far.
Indeed...
I’m very proud that he’s my GM. He clearly learned a lot by working under John Schuerholz.

Agreed
If JJ continues to mature as a pitcher and Gorkys becomes a major league talent, the deal he pulled off last year should be considered one of the greatest in Braves’ history. It is already a good trade and time will tell us just how good.
That deal was great...
…but with Teixeira and Devine, I think we’re about even the last few years (don’t give me crap about JS still being there for the Tex deal, I’m talking generally). Devine will be closing for the As next year, who have a playoff-caliber team. This was as lopsided as the deal where we stole Soriano for Horacio. We ate it on that deal, worse even than Wainwright. I sure hope Sumoza turns into something. Not sold on FW.
i dont know if we can really blame Wren for what happened int eh Teix ordeal… he made a move that theoretically pushed us into the playoffs, it cleared our biggest weakness. and yes we gave up a lot but we also got a lot fo 1 1/2 years of one of the best players at his position. Then it turned out our season went down the crap hole last year… Teix had to be sold for the best of the team…everyone knew it and there wasnt a large market for TEix. All things considered he got a pretty good return for Teix… Its just unfortunate to look at what we gave up and what we have now, but none of that is Wren’s fault, he put the team in good position to succeed, then did he best to get all he could out of the scenario when we didnt succeed. As far as Devine, im thoroughly convinced he was never gonna be effective for the braves for whatever reason, he desperately needed a change of scenery. Actually i can pinpoint the moment i determined Devine’s fate as a Brave was sealed (IMHO)… the 18 inning game 5 agains the Stros. where he gave up the HR. I thoguht it hurt his growth and hurt his psyche. He needed a change of scenery to rid himself of that memory (ala Brad Lidge).
"We win today, that's two in a row... if we win tomorrow, that's called a winning streak. It has happened before..."
Too many intangibles
I agree with the second Teixeira trade. Wren got the best deal he could and it was better than 2 picks.
As for Devine, the reason he wasn’t effective was because the Braves ping ponged him from the minors to the majors and Cox just never used him. How can he succeed if he doesn’t get a chance to?
Lidge got unlucky in 2006 more than anything. His peripherals got a little worse because of that spike in HR rate, but he was in no way a 5+ ERA pitcher. The fact that he only gave up 2 HRs in 2008 just shows the luck bouncing back his way more than anything, especially since Citizen’s Bank is known as a bandbox. Plus Lidge reinvented himself. The slider has become his primary pitch, but everyone keeps looking for the 94-95 MPH heater.
We don’t know if Devine was going to be that good for us. He seemed to need a change of scenery. Good for him to turn it around for the A’s, but it’s hard to fault Wren for that move. Wainwright is regrettable, but Drew did play a major part in helping the Braves reach the postseason that year.
JD Drew deal wasn't that bad
He was the best Braves hitter that year. Wainwright can still blow up due to injuries too.
The Devine deal is not that bad. Kotsay played better than most expected here. And right now its Devine=Sumoza, so we’ll see what happens.
even then its Devine=Sumoza plus half a year of Avg CF in Kotsay… he was key to use winnign a couple games and was certainly ebtter than any other options we had
"We win today, that's two in a row... if we win tomorrow, that's called a winning streak. It has happened before..."
It sounds a lot better when you put it like that
I really hated the Kotsay deal when I heard about it, but getting the stopgap CF (with a lot of salary eaten) and at least another prospect sounds pretty decent, maybe pretty good. Signing someone like Cameron would have been $10M or so. Anderson would probably have looked really bad hitting everyday (at least his defense is good), especially since nobody expected Blanco to emerge.
and most importantly i forgot to mention
Jamie Kotsay

and because i think all should be privy to these kind of photos of various wives of baseballers…

It's about time
That more people saw it the same way I did.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Not fair.
I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

It was worth it for me for selfish reasons
I was at the game when Kotsay hit for the cycle, with my dad no less, and thats one of those things that you don’t forget. Besides, now we can forget Albert Hall.
