Our friends over at Baseball Prospectus released their Midseason Top 50 Prospect List Friday morning and the Atlanta Braves have four prospects who made the cut including three who made large leaps into the Top 50.
Their four entrants include:
No. 34 - Cristian Pache
No. 41 - Shea Langeliers
No. 44 - Kyle Muller
No. 50 - Michael Harris
It is hard to characterize the 2021 season as anything but a disappointment so far for Pache who began the season as the Braves Opening Day centerfielder, but is now back at Gwinnett. He is the only Braves player on this list to slip in his ranking from the preseason. There is still enough talent there defensively to keep him at the top of Atlanta’s list for now and hopefully he can get himself headed back in the right direction at the plate in the second half.
Langeliers is one of the big movers on this list moving up from No. 81 in the preseason. There weren’t any questions entering the season about him defensively and he has flashed some big time power during his first action at Double-A.
Muller made just seven starts at Triple-A before he was thrust into Atlanta’s rotation and he hasn’t disappointed. He is back at Gwinnett now but is slated to rejoin the rotation coming out of the break.
Harris was just outside BP’s preseason list and jumps all the way to No. 50 on the midseason list. His stock has been on the rise since he began turning heads at the alternate site in 2020 and he certainly has not disappointed with his performance at High-A Rome.
It also sounds like the Braves were close to having a fifth player crack the Top 50 as Spencer Strider garnered a lot of discussion.
And Spencer Strider was heavily discussed as well
