Muscles were being flexed in Mississippi’s 10-6 victory over Biloxi as Mississippi combined to hit three homers on nine pitches and scored 10 runs. Despite going down 1-0 to start the game, Mississippi responded with four runs in the top of the second inning highlighted by Drew Lugbauer’s third homerun of the season, that also scored Greyson Jenista, and gave Mississippi the 3-1 lead. Braden Shewmake would later single in Jalen Miller to extended that lead to 4-1. Biloxi would respond with another run in the bottom of the third but then Shea Langeliers answered back with another two-run home run for his eighth of the season.

Two batters later Wendell Rijo joined the party and hit his second homerun of the season to extend the lead to 7-2. Mississippi would go on to score another three runs, all in the sixth, to extend the lead to 10-2 which is all the scoring they needed.
Hayden Deal got the nod for Mississippi and needed 81 pitches to get through four innings of work where he he walked three, and struck out three. Kurt Hoektra, the former utility infielder turned relief pitcher, picked up his second win of the season after working a scoreless fifth inning. The duo of Will Lathcha, and Sean McLaughlin made things a little rocky - combining for four earned runs, including Sean surrending two homers in the eighth inning making the game 10-6, but Josh Graham slammed the door close and gave Mississippi the win.
(13-16) Asheville Tourists 0, (15-15) Rome Braves 5 - SUSPENDED Top 3rd
- Cody Milligan, 2B: 0-for-1, BB, RBI, .286/.347/.357
- Riley Delgado, 3B: 1-for-2, RBI, .270/.341/.365
- Bryce Ball, 1B: 0-for-1, RBI, 2 BB, .210/.340/.383
- Jesse Franklin V, RF: 1-for-1, R, .220/.258/.374
- Bryce Elder, SP: 2.1IP 1H 0R 0BB 3K
Rome exploded for five runs in the third inning before rain suspended the game in the top of the third inning. It was truly an ugly inning for the Tourists as Rome scored three of those five runs via bases loaded walks, and one run because of a fielding error - so it’s clear that there might not been anyone happier to see the game suspended than the Tourists themselves.
Rome will have a double header today starting at 5 PM EST.
(15-14) Myrtle Beach Pelicans -, (13-17) Augusta GreenJackets - PPD
The GreenJackets will play a double header on June 10th to make up for this rain out.
(15-15) Gwinnett Stripers -, (12-18) Memphis Redbirds - PPD
Gwinnett will play twice today, starting at 5:05 PM EST to make up for the postponed game.
