Ozuna placed on leave as MLB investigation continues.

Major League Baseball placed Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna on administrative leave Friday according to a report by The Athletic’s David O’Brien. Ozuna will be on leave for at least seven days but the league and the MLBPA can opt to extend it. Major League Baseball’s investigation into Ozuna’s arrest for domestic violence in May is ongoing.

Ozuna entered into a negotiated resolution in a court appearance on Thursday. The conditions of the resolution will require Ozuna to be placed on six months of supervision and undergo a 24-week family violence intervention program. He will also be required to take an anger management course. If all requirements are completed then all of the charges against him could be dropped.

Ozuna has been on the Braves injured list since suffering two broken fingers in May. This move is rather procedural in that he is still being paid and is not currently on the team’s active roster. He will likely remain on leave until MLB’s investigation is completed.
