Charlie Morton will take the mound Tuesday night when the Atlanta Braves continue their three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Atlanta dropped the opener 5-3 as Drew Smyly struggled again. The Braves have now lost five straight and eight of their last nine games overall at Dodger Stadium.
The Braves will look for better results Tuesday behind Morton who is looking to finish off a solid August. Morton allowed six hits, four runs and struck out nine over five innings in his last start against the Yankees. That snapped a streak of eight straight starts where he had allowed three runs or less. Morton faced Los Angeles back on June 5 and allowed four hits and four runs although only two of those were earned.
The Dodgers will counter with right-hander Walker Buehler who has put together a Cy Young caliber season. Buehler has been lights out in August allowing just five earned runs in 33 1/3 innings. He has 39 strikeouts during that span to go along with just 11 walks. Buehler allowed three hits and an unearned run over 6 2/3 innings in his last outing against San Diego.
Tuesday’s game is scheduled to begin at 10:10 p.m. ET and can be seen on Bally Sports South.
