That Atlanta Braves announced prior to Tuesday’s game against the Yankees that they have reinstated catcher Travis d’Arnaud from the paternity list and optioned William Contreras back to Gwinnett. d’Arnaud ended up missing the final two games of the road trip and Monday’s series opener against the Yankees.

d’Arnaud missed just over three months with a torn thumb ligament in his hand. He returned to the lineup August 11 and is 7-for-24 with two doubles and two homers in six games. Overall, d’Arnaud is hitting .236/.293/.406 with four homers in 29 games. He inked a two-year, $16 million extension with the Braves last Friday. The deal also includes an $8 million club option for a third season.
Contreras started Sunday’s and Monday’s games but went 0-for-6 at the plate with two walks. He will return to Gwinnett where he is hitting .313/.368/.583 with eight home runs in 125 plate appearances.
