After another big win Tuesday, the Atlanta Braves are back at it on Tuesday as they look to extend their winning streak to five straight when they continue their series against the Miami Marlins. Atlanta’s offense continued to roll in the opener Monday as they exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning of a 12-2 win. The Braves now lead the NL East by 1.5 games over the Philadelphia Phillies who will begin a series in Arizona Tuesday night.
The Braves will get another reinforcement back Tuesday with the return of Huascar Ynoa to the rotation. Ynoa has been out since May 17 due to a broken hand that he suffered when he punched the dugout after leaving a start in Milwaukee. Ynoa was a pleasant surprise for the Braves early on and they will be hoping that he can eat some innings down the stretch. Ynoa faced the Marlins back on April 12 in his second start of the season and held them to three hits and one run to go along with 10 strikeouts in six innings.
Miami will counter with big right-hander Sandy Alcantara who has put together another strong season. Alcantara has had an up and down August to say the least. He began the month by allowing just two hits and striking out 10 over seven shutout innings against the Yankees. He then struggled in the thin air of Coors Field as he was tagged for 10 hits and 10 runs in just 3 2⁄3 innings. Alcantara bounced back in his last start allowing four hits in seven scoreless innings against the Padres. He struck out seven and walked two in that outing.
A win Tuesday would give the Braves their fifth straight series win. They have scored four runs or more in nine of their last 13 games during that span.
Tuesday’s game will begin at 7:10 p.m. ET and can be seen on Bally Sports South.
