The Braves announced Saturday night that Drew Smyly left Saturday’s game with left knee pain.

Smyly completed four innings without allowing a run against the Philadelphia Phillies, with three strikeouts, three walks and three hits allowed. All three of Smyly’s walks came with no outs in his fourth and final inning. He fielded a dribbler that he converted to a double-play in that final inning, so the pain may have been triggered on that play.
Smyly started the season pretty disastrously, but has been quite good since the beginning of May, so this would be a big loss to a Braves team that has already suffered a lot of injuries. Mike Soroka, Ian Anderson, Huascar Ynoa, and Tucker Davidson are already on the injured list from the Braves rotation, so if the injury to Smyly warrants a stint on the IL, it will just add to the issue of pitching depth. Stay tuned for updates.
