The Atlanta Braves are shuffling their rotation plans and will go with Touki Toussaint in Tuesday’s game with Kyle Muller pushing back to Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader. Charlie Morton is still scheduled to pitch in Game 2 Wednesday.
RHP Touki Toussaint will start tonight’s game, with LHP Kyle Muller now scheduled for Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader. Charlie Morton is still set for tomorrow’s Game 2.— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) July 20, 2021
Toussaint had originally been scheduled to make his season debut on Tuesday before Monday’s rainout. Atlanta initially said they would go with Muller Tuesday and Toussaint in Game 1 Wednesday. No word on the reasoning behind the switch but Toussaint last pitched on July 13 while Muller went the next day so it makes sense in that regard.
Yu Darvish was activated from the 10-day injured list to make Monday’s start and will move back a day to start Tuesday’s opener. The Padres have not announced their pitching plans for Wednesday’s doubleheader.
The Braves enter play Tuesday with a 45-47 and are 4.5 games back of the New York Mets in the NL East standings.
