Fresh off of a good win Saturday night, the Atlanta Braves will be looking to score a much-needed series win over the Los Angeles Dodgers when the two teams wrap up a three-game series at Truist Park. Atlanta fell in the opener 9-5 after they were undone by an eight-run fifth. The Braves rebounded Saturday with a five-run third of their own against Clayton Kershaw to fuel a 6-4 win.

Max Fried will be on the mound for the Braves Sunday and will be looking to bounce back after an ugly outing his last time out where he allowed six hits and four runs in just 3 2/3 innings against the Washington Nationals. That performance snapped a string of four straight starts where Fried had allowed just a single run while lasting at least five innings. This will be his first appearance against the Dodgers since Game 6 of the 2020 NLCS where he allowed three runs in 6 2/3 innings.

The Dodgers will counter with right-hander Trevor Bauer for the series finale. Bauer is the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner and is off to a great start although some of the underlying peripherals indicate that he has been fortunate. He has a 2.24 ERA but a 3.86 FIP and a 3.56 xFIP. Bauer’s biggest issue this season has been the home run as he has been tagged for 13 already with five coming in his last two starts. The good news for Bauer is, those are the only earned runs he has allowed over his last two outings so he isn’t allowing a lot of guys to reach and then come around to score.

First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. ET and can be seen on Bally Sports Southeast.
