If you were looking for good news to come out of the Braves’ game against the Dodgers on Friday evening, well...prepare for disappointment. The Braves got throttled due to a truly atrocious inning that had questionable managerial decisions, the complete inability to throw a strike, and defensive decision-making that can best be described as “bad”. Here are the big stories from yesterday.
A nightmare fifth inning was possibly the low point of the Braves’ season, as defensive issues, bases-loaded walks (yes, multiple), and some truly incomprehensible bullpen decisions doomed Atlanta against the Dodgers.
Before the Braves’ game against the Dodgers, it was reported first by Kiley McDaniel that the Braves had acquired reliever Ty Tice from the Blue Jays who had been DFAed by Toronto. Tice doesn’t have much of a track record at all and is headed straight to Gwinnett, but hey...the Braves did something.
Looking to the minor leagues is always fun and one of the best performances from Thursday came from the arm of Bryce Elder who was striking out batters left and right for Rome. Keep an eye on Shea Langeliers down in Mississippi as well...he has been lighting it up at the plate.
The 2021 MLB Draft is right around the corner and we are ramping up our draft coverage here at Talking Chop. Our draft primer with the nuts and bolts went up earlier this week and now Matt put together a list of 12 potential options for the Braves when their pick comes up in the first round.
The Red Sox finally got their PTBNL from the four team, Andrew Benintendi extravaganza. One of the more interesting names is Freddy Valdez who hasn’t played outside of the low minors, but seems to hit the crap out of the ball.
Remember that weird rundown between first and home plate from this past week that resulted in Javier Baez being safe at second base and a run scoring? Yeah, that was Will Craig and now he is going back to the minors to think about what he did.
