Touki Toussaint was placed on the 60-day injured list at the end of Spring Training and there hasn’t been much heard from him since. We finally got an update today when the Rome Braves announced that Toussaint will begin a rehab assignment in Rome this Tuesday.
Toussaint appeared in four games during the spring where he allowed two runs over nine innings before going on the injured list due to a shoulder strain. He struggled in seven appearances with the Braves in 2020 posting an 8.88 ERA in just 24 1/3 innings and has had limited success at the Major League level. The Braves may well elect to stretch him out as a starter while he works his way back into shape, but he is another player that could figure into the bullpen picture at some point as another multi-inning option.
