Despite leading 4-0 and 5-2, the Atlanta Braves dropped their third straight game Saturday night falling 6-5 in 10 innings to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Braves are now 0-4 in extra inning games this season. As bad as all of that sounds, the biggest blow came in the sixth inning when catcher Travis d’Arnaud suffered a thumb injury on a play at the plate. d’Arnaud was replaced by Alex Jackson and Brian Snitker confirmed following the game that he will be placed on the injured list and will fly back to Atlanta to be examined by team doctors. William Contreras will be recalled to take d’Arnaud’s place on the active roster.

Prior to Saturday’s game, the Braves placed outfielder Guillermo Heredia on the 10-day injured list with hamstring inflammation and recalled Cristian Pache from the alternate site. Pache delivered early Saturday night with a grand slam in his first at-bat to stake the Braves to an early lead.
It has been a bad start of the season for Drew Smyly who has been lit up over his first four starts. Despite those struggles, Smyly is confident that he can turn things around.
“A few games don’t define me,” Smyly said. “I know I can get these guys out. I’ve been doing it for quite a while. It’s just a matter of doing it consistently and going out there every five days to give your team a chance to win. Unfortunately, I haven’t done that.”
The minor league season will get underway on Tuesday. It appears that we will have to wait until then to find out where Atlanta’s top prospects will be headed.
I am just replying with a sad face to anyone that asks about rosters being released. Braves minor league official rosters won't likely be announced until Tuesday. #PatienceIsHard https://t.co/quQWfMQ98r
