Ronald Acuña Jr. banged out four hits including a monstrous home run to help lead the Atlanta Braves to an 8-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves have now won three straight games following their 0-4 start.
Charlie Morton allowed four hits, one run and struck out seven over six innings and Atlanta’s bullpen took care of the rest. Freddie Freeman and Ehire Adrianza both homered in the game. Adrianza was added back to the roster prior to the game and hit a pinch hit homer in the sixth inning in his first home at-bat in an Atlanta uniform. The Braves now have three pinch-hit home runs over their first seven games of the season. They had one over the entire 60-game season in 2020.
The series will continue on Saturday with Ian Anderson matching up against Phillies right-hander Zach Eflin. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET.
