The Atlanta Braves got some good news on the injury front Friday as Ronald Acuña Jr. returned to the lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Brian Snitker also passed along some updates on some of the team’s injured players. Pitchers Chris Martin and Max Fried have been playing catch as they progress from shoulder and hamstring injuries. Martin’s shoulder is feeling better and he could progress to throwing off the mound soon.
Cristian Pache began playing in games at the alternate site on Friday. Pache is still on the injured list due to a strained groin. Ender Inciarte is still recovering from a strained hamstring and has not resumed baseball activities.

The Minnesota Twins placed Miguel Sano one the 10-day injured list due to a strained hamstring and recalled outfield prospect Alex Kirilloff.
Milwaukee outfielder Cristian Yelich will not be activated from the injured list Saturday according to manager Craig Counsell. Yelich hasn’t played since April 11 due to a sore lower back.
Padres right hander Dinelson Lamet is back on the injured list and hoping to avoid Tommy John surgery. Lamet was reportedly feeling good Thursday. Lamet exited his season debut Wednesday due to tightness in his right forearm.
The Cubs placed Shelby Miller on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a lower back strain. Chicago selected the contract of Kyle Ryan to take Miller’s spot on the roster. Miller turned in a solid spring but has struggled in three relief appearances allowing seven runs over two innings.
Rangers first baseman Ronald Guzman will undergo knee surgery and miss the remainder of the 2021 season. Guzman tore the meniscus in his right knee back on April 12.
Mike Trout was scratched from Friday’s lineup due to a left elbow contusion. Trout was hit on the elbow by a pitch from Cristian Javier in Thursday’s game. Angels GM Perry Minasian said that the team was just being cautious with their franchise player.
The Kansas City Royals placed veteran reliever Greg Holland on the injured list and selected the contract of reliever Brad Brach. No word on Holland’s ailment which usually means that it is COVID related.
