Wrigley Field was unkind to the Braves on Saturday, as Huascar Ynoa and the Atlanta staff were hammered by the Cubs offense. Having three starters on the IL, plus two prominent bullpen arms, leaves the Braves with precious little depth on the staff. Could the current situation lead Atlanta to make a trade this early in the season?
Most likely, GM Alex Anthopoulos will prefer to wait until later in the season before looking to make a trade. This would allow the front office to make a better determination of whether the club will contend in 2021. Trade targets will likely materialize, especially in the bullpen, over the next couple months. Keep an eye on Atlanta as their depth continues to be tested.
This went very poorly for the Braves. They will look to win the series on Sunday.
The injuries continue to mount for the Braves. Just 15 games into the season, Atlanta has seen its share of important players hit the IL. This time Inciarte and Newcomb are the unlucky additions.
This story is incredible. Sean Kazmar joined the big club on Saturday, making his first appearance in the major leagues in 12 years.
Things are a little dicey in the Bronx at the moment.
Anything that stokes the fire for this rivalry is great, even if it’s something petty like catcher’s interference.
