The Atlanta Braves got their road trip off on a good note with a 5-2 win over the Chicago Cubs but it was a costly victory from an injury standpoint. Before the game even began, the Braves placed left-hander Drew Smyly on the injured list due to forearm inflammation and recalled Kyle Wright and infielder Johan Camargo. Wright started in place of Smyly Friday and allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings.
The injuries didn’t stop there. Ender Inciarte suffered a strained hamstring while running the bases during Atlanta’s fourth inning rally. Inciarte has been plagued by leg injuries over the last few seasons and this one didn’t look any different and it would be surprising if he escapes without a stint on the injured list.
Ozzie Albies exited the game in the ninth after he was hit in the leg by a pitch from Justin Steele. On replay it looked like Albies was hit in the knee but Brian Snitker told reporters afterwards that he was hit in the calf area and that he had previously been hit there a couple of other times.

As expected, the San Diego Padres activated shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. from the injured list Friday in time for their matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tatis spent just the minimum 10 days on the injured list after sustaining a partially dislocated left shoulder on a swing.
Not so good injury news for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Cody Bellinger has been diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his left leg. Reds outfielder Aristides Aquino was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday after undergoing surgery to remove the hook of the hamate bone in his left hand.
The San Francisco Giants placed right-hander Johnny Cueto on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 lat strain. Cueto exited Wednesday’s start after throwing just 68 pitches.
