The Braves lineup for the series opener at Wrigley Field looks like this... at least until the team announces that someone else (please no) has been scratched and sent to the Injured List ahead of game time.
Ehire Adrianza, who had a pinch-hit single yesterday afternoon, draws the start in lieu of Austin Riley at the hot corner. Ender Inciarte is back patrolling center in what might now be a platoon situation with him and Guillermo Heredia. The rest of the lineup is what it is at this point, it’s just a matter of the wOBA-xwOBA differential evening out for some guys, Ozuna regaining his oomph at the plate, and Ronald Acuña Jr. continuing to maul baseballs like a hungry shark in a section of ocean that had previously not known any predation. Needless to say, this is a novel lineup for the Braves.
The Cubs, meanwhile, deploy a more familiar lineup for them, one they’ve already used three times this season (and went 2-1 in doing so):
Of the current lineup, only five players (Ozuna, Inciarte, Freeman, Swanson, d’Arnaud) have ever faced Davies; Ozuna has faced him 22 times and has a .334 xwOBA / .358 wOBA against him. Wright, meanwhile, is an unknown quantity for the Cubs’ roster.
Also, this Savant game preview. Yeesh. If Wright must struggle tonight, hopefully he can at least dispense with the bottom of the order, or else that’ll be double-sad.
