Atlanta got off to a slow start this season dropping their first four games. They have since righted the ship. Atlanta swept a doubleheader in Washington to end their opening road trip on a good note and then took the first two games at home against Philadelphia to get back to the .500 mark.
Sunday’s finale will feature a matchup of two left-handed offseason pitching additions for both teams in Drew Smyly and Matt Moore. Smyly allowed two earned runs and struck out eight in his debut against the Nationals. Moore retired seven straight in his first start before losing his command. He allowed just two runs to the Mets but would exit after just 3 1/3 innings.
After scoring just three runs in their opening series in Philadelphia, the Braves have totaled 13 in their first two games against the Phillies at Truist Park. Ronald Acuña Jr. has played a big part in the series going 6-for-9 at the plate with three doubles and a home run. Acuña comes into Sunday’s game hitting .406/.441/.844 with a 239 wRC+. Freddie Freeman has homered in two straight games and three of his four hits this season have left the yard. Freeman is just 4-for-26 on the season but appears to be settling in at the plate.
Sunday’s game will get underway at 7:08 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.
