If you needed a reminder for how quick things can turn in a normal MLB season, then Atlanta Braves served that right up. After starting the season 0-4, the Braves have won four straight and are back to .500. Atlanta will go for a sweep Sunday when they conclude their three-game series with the Phillies on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.

Freddie Freeman homered for the second straight game and drove in three runs to help the Braves to a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday night at Truist Park. The win was Atlanta’s fourth straight and evened their record at 4-4 for the season.
Atlanta placed reliever Chris Martin on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to right shoulder inflammation. Martin left his last outing in Philadelphia with what was described as numbness in his fingers. The Braves recalled right-hander Jacob Webb from the alternate site to take Martin’s place on the roster.
ESPN.com lists the Braves among five teams that could unseat the Dodgers in 2021.

The Yankees optioned starter Domingo German to the alternate site following another rough start Saturday. German allowed eight hits and four runs over four innings in a loss to the Rays.
Injury Notes
The Boston Red Sox placed DH J.D. Martinez on the COVID-19 injured list prior to Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. Martinez was reportedly showing cold symptoms and the team isn’t taking any chances. Michael Chavis was recalled to take Martinez’s place on the roster.
The New York Mets placed third baseman J.D. Davis on the 10-day injured list with a left hand contusion. The move is retroactive to April 7. The team selected the contract of former Braves prospect Jose Peraza and designated right-hander Franklyn Kilome for assignment.
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Kolton Wong was placed on the injured list with a left oblique strain. The injury is said to be minor and the team is hopeful that Wong will be ready to return shortly after the 10-day minimum. The Brewers called up former Braves infielder Jace Peterson to take Wong’s spot on the roster.
Angels outfielder Dexter Fowler suffered a sprained knee while running the bases Friday night and was placed on the 10-day injured list.
Mariners left-hander James Paxton will see another doctor on Monday and will be seeking a second opinion for his left forearm strain. Tommy John surgery had previously been recommended for Paxton.
Josh Donaldson ran sprints and did base running drills on the field Saturday and could be activated from the 10-day injured list as soon as Monday. Donaldson suffered a hamstring strain while legging out a double in his first at-bat of the season and was placed on the injured list.
The Detroit Tigers placed Julio Teheran on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain and manager A.J. Hinch expects him to miss “quite a few starts.”
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Chris Archer left Saturday’s game in the third inning due to tightness in his right forearm. Archer was placed on the 10-day injured list following the game but the hope is that the injury isn’t serious. Tampa recalled Brent Honeywell from the alternate training site and he is scheduled to make his Major League debut Sunday.
