MLB Pipeline its Top 10 lists by position in advance of their Top 100 prospect list which will be released on Friday. The Atlanta Braves are well represented in the outfield group with both Cristian Pache and Drew Waters making the list. Atlanta and Seattle are the only teams with two outfield prospects in the Top 10.

Pache comes in at No. 3 on the list and is lauded for his defensive ability. Pipeline rates Pache as the top outfield prospect in terms of Run (70), Arm (70) and Defense (80).

A mainstay on MLB Pipeline’s All-Defense team since 2017, Pache has been considered the top defender in the Minors for nearly as long. He enhances his speed with outstanding instincts that allow him to get to balls that most players can’t. The Braves valued his defensive ability to keep him over three-time Gold Glove Award winner Ender Inciarte on their 2020 playoff roster.

Waters comes in at No. 10 on the list. He put together a banner 2019 season that saw him end the season at Triple-A Gwinnett. Feels like there might be a bit of prospect fatigue associated with Waters in some circles as the focus has been on his need to refine his approach at the plate and to cut some of the swing and miss from his game. Having no minor league season in 2020 didn’t allow him to quiet any of those concerns but the reports on him coming out of the alternate site were positive.
