The MLB offseason remains quiet for the most part but things should once again begin to pick up over the next month. The Atlanta Braves wasted no time in shoring up their rotation with the early acquisitions of Charlie Morton and Drew Smyly. They are still in the market for a big bat for the lineup, an outfielder and a back up catcher. Despite those needs, Atlanta ranks fourth in MLB.com’s first power rankings of 2021 trailing only the Dodgers, Padres and Yankees.

Free agent right hander Trevor Bauer disclosed on one of his latest vlogs that he had a scheduled call with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Miami Marlins signed free agent Ross Detwiler to a one-year major league deal Friday. After struggling for several seasons, Detwiler put up a 3.20 ERA and a 3.90 FIP in 19 2/3 innings for the White Sox in 2020.
The New York Yankees agreed to a minor league deal with outfielder Socrates Brito. Brito signed a minor league deal with the Pirates last offseason and began the year as part of Pittsburgh’s 60-man player pool. He opted out in September after his brother died from Covid-19.
