Braves come up short in 5-4 loss to Marlins
The Braves fell to the Marlins on Monday, letting a winnable game slip through their grasp. The Atlanta offense was unable to capitalize upon multiple run-scoring opportunities throughout the game, including a walk-off opportunity in the ninth inning. The most concerning aspect of this game, however, was a tough outing from Ian Anderson. The rookie is being relied upon to carry a heavy load alongside Max Fried, and the club will need better results going forward.
Anderson has 1st stumble: ‘Tough to swallow’
Ian Anderson has been incredible to begin his major league career, but struggled mightily on Monday. Unfortunately, the Braves are relying on Anderson very heavily given the current state of their rotation, so three inning starts are especially crippling to the bullpen.
“I’d rather go out there and go five or six [innings] and give up three or four [runs] rather than just going three,” Anderson said. “For me, as a starter, that’s always tough to swallow.”
“It’s on me,” Anderson said. “I should have been able to lock back in and refocus a little bit quicker.”
