Max Fried left Wednesday’s game against the Miami Marlins after just one inning due to a tweaked ankle. Fried could be seen talking to Brian Snitker and pitching coach Rick Kranitz during the home half of the first. He appeared to be lobbying to stay in the game but with the playoffs just a week away the Braves will play it safe.
LHP Max Fried was removed from tonight’s game as a precaution after tweaking his left ankle fielding a bunt in the first inning.

Fried retired Miguel Rojas on a fly out to start the game. Starling Marte then came to the plate and dropped down a bunt. Fried appeared to stumble a bit while fielding the bunt but recovered in time to retire Marte at first. Fried would then allow his first home run in 63 1/3 innings this season to Jesus Aguilar. Brian Anderson would follow with another homer. Garrett Cooper doubled but Fried was able to retire Lewis Brinson on a ground out to end the inning.
Fried threw 22 pitches in the first with only 11 landing in the strike zone. The Braves bailed him out with three runs in the bottom half of the inning against Sixto Sanchez. Luke Jackson replaced Fried in the second.
