The Braves will have to look elsewhere for rotation help

The Atlanta Braves were rumored to be one of the teams pushing for Cleveland Indians starter Mike Clevinger Sunday night but they apparently weren’t willing to meet the asking price. Robert Murray reports that the Indians are sending Clevinger to the San Diego Padres who continue to load up at the deadline.

Clevinger and outfielder Greg Allen along with a player to be named later is going to San Diego in the deal. The Indians are acquiring right-hander Cal Quantrill, shortstop Gabriel Arias, outfielder Josh Naylor, catcher Austin Hedges, shortstop Owen Miller and LHP Joey Cantillo.

It remains to be seen where the Braves pivot here or if they were really as involved on Clevinger as the reports stated. Rangers starter Lance Lynn and Angels right-hander Dylan Bundy are two pitchers that are reportedly available.
