This Day in Braves History: July 30
1969 - The Braves smash five homers in a 6-3 win over the Phillies. Felipe, Alou, Hank Aaron and Bob Tillman go back-to-back-to-back. Aaron’s homer is the 537th of his career which moves him ahead of Mickey Mantle on the all-time list.
1972 - Ralph Garr and Earl Williams combine for 10 hits and 10 runs to help the Braves to 14-4 and 5-4 wins over the Dodgers in a doubleheader sweep.
1978 - The Expos crush the Braves 19-0 while collecting 28 hits and an National League record eight home runs. The Expos also break an 85-year old record with 58 total bases.
1998 - The Braves acquire infielder Greg Colbrunn from the Rockies in exchange for minor league pitchers David Cortes and Mike Porzio. This is the second straight season that Atlanta traded for Colbrunn.
2000 - Tom Glavine notches win No. 200 in a 6-3 victory over the Astros.
2012 - Atlanta acquires left-hander Paul Maholm and outfielder Reed Johnson from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for reliever Arodys Vizcaino and Jaye Chapman.
On the same day, Jason Heyward homers and scores three times as Atlanta defeats the Marlins 8-2. The win is the team’s first on a Monday since the previous season.
2016 - The Braves acquire outfielder Matt Kemp from the San Diego Padres in exchange for third baseman Hector Olivera. San Diego will immediately designate Olivera for assignment.
2018 - Atlanta acquires outfielder Adam Duvall from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for right-handers Lucas Sims and Matt Wisler along with outfielder Preston Tucker.
