The awards continue to roll in for Freddie Freeman as he was announced as the 2020 recipient of the Hank Aaron Award for the National League. The Chicago White Sox have been the busiest team at the Winter Meetings. Late Monday night they acquired right-hander Lance Lynn from the Texas Rangers in exchange for right-handed prospect Dane Dunning and left-hander Avery Weems. Many around the league thought that Texas made a mistake by not trading Lynn at the 2020 deadline. A report by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal sheds some light on why he wasn’t moved. Per Rosenthal, Lynn and his agent informed the Rangers that he would opt out of the season if he was sent to a team that he did not wish to join giving him a de facto no-trade clause.

The White Sox also reportedly inked veteran outfielder Adam Eaton to a one-year, $7 million deal Tuesday that also includes an $8.5 million option for the 2022 season.

The Kansas City Royals agreed to a two-year, $17.5 million contract with first baseman Carlos Santana.

Former Braves prospect Matt Wisler is headed west after agreeing to a one-year, $1.15 million contract with the San Francisco Giants. Wisler is coming off the best season of his career with the Twins in which he posted a 1.07 ERA to go along with 35 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings. Despite those good numbers, he was non-tendered by the Twins last Wednesday mostly due to suspect peripherals.

The Miami Marlins were reportedly among the teams that are showing interest in KBO MVP Mel Rojas Jr, but he agreed to join the Hanshin Tigers on a two year deal.
