Here’s your open thread query of the day (and I admit that I stole it from siegeface): would you trade Luke Jackson for Raisel Iglesias?
On the one hand, you get a “really good reliever.” On the other hand, it’s not clear that concept really exists. On a third, mutant hand, you devote another $9 million or so (a little less if you presume Luke Jackson gets his maximum contract amount) of your payroll to this “really good reliever.”
If your answer is “hell yes,” then you might be disappointed to learn that former Braves honcho and current Angels GM Perry Minasian beat the Braves to the punch. The guy sent in exchange for Iglesias was Noe Ramirez, who was quite good (but not as good as Jackson) in 2019, and basically fell apart in 2020. He projects to be somewhere between a mediocre reliever and an okay swingman in 2021, which is not too different from Jackson aside from the latter’s higher ceiling (based on their respective 2019s).
Or, I don’t know, talk about books or something. Or what TV show I should watch next.
